First Dress – First Homecoming

Description

My 15 year old granddaughter, Annie, designed a dress for homecoming and asked me to help her sew it. We found a slip dress pattern online and made a sample dress with the bodice she created. Then we cut the pattern out of a yummy red satin she fell in love with! Annie was a natural on the Bernina making straps, inserting an invisible zipper and even making a tie for her date from the same fabric.
We used the Bernina Record 930 that her Grampa gave me 43 years ago. It has helped me create many projects in this years and still sews like a dream. The final touch was a red satin button on the back that we found in my grandmother’s button jar. I will cherish forever this time  with my granddaughter introducing her to sewing on my Bernina.
